Images Fine Art Gallery presents
Carolyn Wheeler
Fine Art
Carolyn Wheeler is a retired archaeologist who took up creating artwork as a natural extensionof digging up art from the past.
“Hieroglyphs, petroglyphs, pottery, sculpture, painting, even architecture – everything I studied and dug up was art. After retiring from field research I thought I’d relax and just go straight from digging up art to creating it. Now THAT was naïve. Making art is hard work.”
Nevertheless, in 2003 Carolyn opened her first studio in a warehouse in Larkspur, Ca and started selling a life’s accumulation of photographs.
Three years later in a converted warehouse in Sausalito, Ca she started producing ‘alternative photographic procedures’. From here she created the patent pending process “Dores Nature” (fr. gilded forms of nature), the luxurious 24k gold and silver images of natural history. Pieces from this collection are sold exclusively at Images Fine Art Gallery in Lahaina, Maui.
“Life as artwork in progress. The older we get, the more manifested, more colorful, more ‘filled-in’ we become. Aging brings new challenges but thankfully it also provides distinct rewards for having lived this extraordinary life. ”
